Arlington Youth Sports (AYS) is a non-profit organization created in June of 2003 to serve the needs of children in the Arlington and northeast Shelby County area. However, we do not require youth to live in this area because we want every child to have the opportunity to learn how to play organized team sports and experience all the good that comes from it. AYS was formed under the Shelby Youth Sports league and we operate under a set of regulations formed by that parent body. We also have a strict set of By-Laws that govern us even further so every parent can be assured that the organization continues to give all it can to the kids.

The AYS Booster Club Board of Officers is in place to serve as an oversight committee and to handle day to day operations of the organization as far as money goes. At AYS we strive to keep operating costs as low as possible by using things like a competitive bid process, calling on local businesses for donations.  We  also have fundraisers throughout the year. We can assure you that every dollar collected will go back into this program and not one cent is used for administrative costs as we are all volunteers and are not paid. Most of us have children in the program or have in the past had a child in the program so we have a vested interest in this. This will continue to be a success only if we continue to receive help from the community. These same children you help today might one day be the person operating your business or leading our community in some way. They will remember how they were helped and will continue to help others in that same tradition that you helped get started, because that is what you and I teach them: good values.

The children in AYS learn all about team sports, sportsmanship, how to help each other and to be dependable, that winning is only a small reward that comes from our efforts and doing things the right way is more important than winning will ever be. For some kids we are their only opportunity to be a part of something that can help them, and it feels good knowing our efforts are helping. We don’t ever want to feel as though our job is complete because we know there will always be children in need and that’s why we are building relationships now, so that when we are gone the footsteps we leave behind will be easy to follow.

Your continued support will help us be successful in the future. Your contribution helps us cover our operating costs like equipment costs, uniform costs, utilities, field maintenance, insurance costs, trophies, banquets, etc. This in turn will allow us to keep our fees to participate as low as possible so every child has an opportunity to join up. We also use some of the money raised to pay for those that want to participate but don’t have the extra money to pay for it.

We just want to let you know some of the ways that your contributions help and a little about the organization as a whole. Thank you on behalf of the directors, booster club officers, the many parent volunteers, and the 700 children that your donation helps on a daily basis.
